Precision Valve & Automation Acquires 3D Printing Startup Create Orthotics & Prosthetics


Colonie robotics maker Precision Valve & Automation has acquired 3D printing customer Create Orthotics & Prosthetics in a move designed to help the startup make artificial arms and legs faster, and at a lower cost, than their competitors.

PVA president and founder Tony Hynes said the transaction closed Sept. 27. Terms were not disclosed.

Create O&P is a 7-year-old company co-founded by practicing prosthetist Jeff Erenstone in Lake Placid. The business moved to suburban Albany in August 2018 when it started leasing space at PVA headquarters just off Route 9, and hired Hynes’ company to design and manufacture its third-generation prosthetics printers.
